Deeds of Love

Clothes & Shoes for the Children of Casa Corazón de la Misericordia,

San Pedro Sula, Honduras

The purpose of this Deed Project was to provide new clothes and shoes for the  children cared for by Casa Corazón de la Misericordia (La Casa).  Three Kings Day 2007 was used as the target day, providing the children with fond memories and the opportunity to experience the power of love and care.

La Casa is home to 32 children who are very poor and who are either HIV positive or have developed AIDS.  All of these children have lost both parents from AIDS related illnesses or were abandoned and neglected because of their infection with the virus.

This project was completed locally in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, with the generous and loving support from members of Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen and the Tercera Iglesia Presbiteriana (Third Presbyterian Church).  Overall, approximately $2,500 in new clothes and shoes were collected and sent to La Casa in Honduras for the Children.  Every one of the 32 children received a wrapped present with a new set of clothes as well as a new pair of shoes.  The support was so outstanding that an extra box was sent with enough new clothes and shoes for an additional 12 children.
